What has changed

  • Extended until October (originally May, subsequently extended until June)
  • Furloughed workers will continue to receive 80% of their current salary, up to £2,500
  • New flexibility introduced from August to allow workers to get back to work and boost the economy.
  • Employers will be required to contribute to the 80% (or £2,500) but it is not yet clear how much.
  • More details will be available by the end of May.
